Summer 1996Vol.11 No.2
beauty, beauty, beauty, sound
I was on my way downtown to buy my mother a card and possibly buy myself a tape - this would have been my second try to buy mom a card - I was diverted yesterday - the question now is will mom get the card - since I remembered that amongst other cards I had a graduation card and one of Cristina's business cards - graduation being the key word there - which means I can no longer
work at the student run station with 26,000 watts and almost as many choices - Athens' only alternative radio station - and as far as I am concerned the best one left - which I see as a loss - yet so much have I gained - here would be the proper place for a concise list of knowledge I have gleaned from the fertile fields of 90.5FM - but I want to simply address Alan Watts - whom
I had the priviledge to play for the first time - getting to be new when you're the old man - but you do so many things for the first time in your life - and currently this is the first time I have been able to talk about Alan Watts and beauty - which brings me to 90.5FM and beauty - which brings me to the fact that in beauty we find the balance of noise and sound - purpose and interpretation become
a focus - so when I think about this on whatever grain of sand I happen to be indulging - which I think I will have a number of options - which I think simply the best thing to do is turn the radio up a little and try to hear those 26,000 watts in the wind and the static - and the melodrama of finding my mother a card -
