5/20/2006: maymester Ah, spring semester's over-
Thanks to all ops staffers that came and helped out for Live in the Lobby's among other things. I hope you have a relaxing summer and I look forward to seeing you in the Fall. To all my towny/student/staffers who call Athens home during the summer, I'll have plenty of projects that I'll be working on over the summer that you may be interested in, so keep checking your email, b/c i'm going to be up on that listserv.
Also Live in the Lobby is STILL going on over the summer, it has just been cut back from twice a week to once a week. Tues only. same bat time... same bat place.

4/10/2006: Spring Semester Hello to all my smooth operators out there.
This has been a great semester so far. Live in the Lobby's have been moving along like clockwork, and it's great to see you new members of staff, you know who you are, getting familiar with the station and the equipment. I appreciate those more senior members of staff who are digging in. To put it frankly, OPS staff is HOT SHIT.
In other news, a group of Wuoggers headed up to Harrisonburg, VA this weekend for the Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference where we attended panels, shows, and had a hell of a good time. I strongly suggest it. It's a great opporunity to show off WUOG and learn some tips from other stations around the region, plus see some great bands.

THIS BLOG ENTRY IS OVER!

1/8/2006: Welcome back staffers Hello everyone. I hope everyone's break went well, mine sure did. Good to get away but it is also wonderful to be back in Athens, (what do they call it, the classic city?) Molly and I are both excited to be taking things over. It will be hard to fill Miles' shoes (big feet), but we're going to give it our best shot. We'll be sending an email out on the listserv soon about when that first Ops meeting will be, we're rumored to have some new faces, so there's something to look forward to. Be sure to make the banquet also, upstairs Tasty world, this thursday, the 12th... free food, free music, good times.

10/8/2005: Though the transmitter is currently down (ah, sad face), Operations Staff has been going quite well. We had our beginning of the year/welcome party for new members, which included a big spaghetti dinner, record bowls, candy, and Clueless. I felt like such a Baldwin. Anybody who wasn't there was totally buggin'. You see what I did there, I made inside jokes that only ops staffers will understand. Rock.

Well, when we get back on air soon, expect a full schedule of ops-related activities: Live in the Lobby, the Georgia Tailgate Show, Women's Soccer, perhaps a little work with Syndication and Loud Fast Rules, and of course some menial tasks to get the station ready for Alumni Weekend.

Alright, then.
Later
8/16/2005: Live in the Lobby for August 16th (tonight) with Ham1 is cancelled. I know, I know, all you ops staffers were desperately wanting to rejoin the waves of WUOG, but you will just have to wait and come back on Thursday when we kick off the school year and kick off a new semester of Live in the Lobby. Shows will start at 8:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays every week all semester. If you would like to help out, shoot me an email (ops@wuog.org) or stop by around 6:30.

Peace out,
Miles
8/10/2005: School is almost here!
Whoa.
Well, I'm not that surprised. This summer has been unbearably slow, and I am ready for 24 hours of WUOG like mad.

Last week the experimental noise show Crisis had a special performance that I helped organize. Lars, Zach, and Jeff (from Elephant 666, The Mooninites, and Anti-Music, respectively) played 2 and a half hours of noisy accompanyment to the silent film Metropolis. Audience participation also happened. It was fun, and I will take suggestions from anyone about more movie nights and fun events at the station.

Live in the Lobby is going strong. I'm going to start sending out a regular deluge of listserv emails now that everybody is returning. If you have been away for the summer and want to return to your lovely ops staff, come say hi to me at next week's show. Ham1 will play.

If you are not on staff and want to join operations, shoot me an email (ops@wuog.org). It's fun, I swear. OR just wait until our Open Meeting early this semester.

Peace,

6/30/2005: Hey There Everyone,

I hope life is great for everybody. We have had a busy couple weeks here at WUOG. The Athfest Remote 2005 went really well. We were broadcasting very close to the main stage, and the signal sounded great. Thanks to everyone for helping out.

Live in the Lobby continues to go strong. Thanks to Lars, Brandon, and Erica for helping out.

Email with questions.
Peace
4/25/2005: wires wires wires Well, we are obviously back on air. Horah! Say "Ta ta" to the old News Board.

I have almost finished putting in the new one, and I am pleased.

I've been a little distracted lately, but I think the staff and I have done a lot this year. I will have to clean up the ol' office pretty soon. Perhaps a job for the summer, eh?

Tilted!!!!

peace,
Miles
4/3/2005: I miss the station something terrible. I may soon give birth to something nasty.
3/21/2005: I'd like to first welcome the new members of the WUOG Executive Board. I think it will be a great year, and I hope we continue the good work our exec ancestors have done.

In the next few weeks, a lot of technical changes will be happening. We are getting a new News/Sports/Talk console. We can finally say goodbye to the forest of wires that tangle under our feet. Simplicity--hopefully!--here we come.

Also, Noah watch out! Yeah, that’s right.
Peace,
Miles
